Why the ban?
Although our country is among the most virtuous in Europe when it comes to glass recycling, the comparison between territorial and national data shows a Worrying gapThe regions of the Centre and South are struggling compared to those of the North, to such an extent that every year there is talk of at least 300,000 tonnes of recyclable glass packaging being collected indiscriminately, and thus illegally destined for landfill, with alarming consequences both economically and environmentally.
In this context, the’Agreement signed between the National Association of Italian Municipalities and the Glass Recovery Consortium To support local authorities on a path of growth and improvement of their long-term glass collection systems and reduce the gap between the North and South of Italy.
Subject of the agreement two tenders The North Band, zone 1, directed at Aosta Valley, Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Umbria and Sardinia; and the South Stand, Zone 2, serving Lazio, Marche, Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicily and Campania), of Grant co-financing intended for Municipalities or Management Companies, for a total investment of approximately 10 million euros, with the aim on the one hand of To develop and increase the separate collection system for glass packaging waste, on the other hand increase the flows and improve the quality of the collection itself.
Both tenders have 30 June 2023 expiry.
Which interventions are eligible for funding?
The ANCI-CoReVe calls provide for an investment of approximately 10 million euros to be used for the development and implementation of:
- glass packaging waste separate collection systems,
- territorial projects for the same purpose,
- Communication projects for the development of separate collection of glass packaging waste.
Specifically, the eligible interventions interests:
- the’purchase of equipment (bins, wheeled bins, skips, bell-shaped containers, etc.) necessary for the passage to a separate collection service for glass packaging waste, including therefore a door-to-door service *;
- the’Purchase or replacement of equipment (bins, wheeled bins, skips, bell-shaped containers, etc.) necessary for the enhancement of the existing*;
- the’implementation of territorial projects for the same purposes, namely the design, technical support and start-up for the earthing of equipment or for the implementation of a new collection method*;
- the Communication project implementation for the development of separate collection of single-material glass packaging waste by Municipalities or delegated bodies, in agreement with CoReVe.
* Co-financing is provided at a rate of 70% of the expenditure incurred, subject to a maximum amount of €100,000 (including VAT) per project, and subject to the availability of funds.

Who are the beneficiaries?
It is important to clarify this point! The tenders are aimed at Municipalities Italians who respect directives Conditions:
- they have signed an agreement with CoReVe, either directly or via a delegated manager;
- individually or in association pursuant to Article 30 of the TUEL
- have not already been recipients of funding disbursed by CoReVe in the last 2 years.
The requirements must be understood cumulatively and not alternatively.
In the case of Management company is it possible to submit a single application for multiple municipalities or a single application per managed municipality, without a maximum limit on the number of applications, while applications relating to projects concerning Associations of Municipalities They will have to be submitted by the Union or by the lead Municipality.
How do I sign up, and by when?
Applications for membership may be submitted by 24:00 on 30 June 2023, following the’itinerary indicated in the section dedicated to the call for applications on the website www.coreve.it.
The documents to be submitted include:
- question
- project specification
- declaration signed by both the Municipal Administration and the service operator, certifying the latter's commitment to implement the contents indicated in the project technical sheet, as well as the deployment plan and the commitment to use the equipment provided for therein*
- commitment to affix, on each piece of equipment purchased through the contribution covered by this call, an appropriate screen print or sticker bearing the wording: “Equipment financed by the Anci-CoReVe Call”, with double ANCI and CoReVe * logo.
* only if the candidate project foresees the purchase of equipment intended for the separate collection of glass packaging.
