Sikuel – Gruppo Maggioli and FemoGas have recently announced their participation as Silver Sponsors at Biogas Italy 2025, the flagship event of the Italian Biogas Consortium (CIB), which will be held in Milan in March. The event aims to map out the future of the agricultural biogas/biomethane sector in Italy. This announcement follows the success achieved at Ecomondo 2024, where the two companies presented K-Biomet, an innovative platform for the intelligent management of biogas and biomethane.
K-Biomet has generated considerable interest among key industry players, including manufacturers, holding companies, and consultants, both nationally and across Europe. The platform, which integrates cloud applications and connected devices, optimises the entire biomethane supply chain through farm management, field logistics, sustainability certification, and finally the commercialisation of LNG, CNG, and fertilisers.
Farm management
K-Biomet uses geofencing to map farms and crops, integrating land registry and agricultural crop data, thus enabling biomass tracking, which is necessary for mass balance, and monitoring soil nitrogen levels. K-Biomet digitises producer and contractor contracts for more efficient and secure document management. A mobile application is also available for requesting tank emptying or digestate delivery. This will save time, simplify collaboration, and reduce errors related to manual processes.
Field Logistics
The system optimises transport through vehicle tracking, ensuring full loads during biomass collection, digestate spreading, or various movements.
From the application installed on the tablet, the driver follows the guided procedure, through the stages of loading the vehicle, weighing, navigation to the producer, recording of spreading, crop census, navigation to and from the plant based on the activity to be carried out, and recognition of the incoming vehicle. K-Biomet communicates with connected weighbridges, cameras, and automatic barriers for process automation.
It is possible to determine transit points subject to restrictions, prohibitions, preferred time windows, or parameterisable characteristics.
To ensure cost control, there is a table for managing third-party costs, fuel adjustment, and a ledger of movements.
Production biology
K-Biomet, thanks to the digitalisation of processes and its connection with tanks, bases, and slurry pits, collects data throughout the entire production cycle: from biomass procurement to digestate production, and even to LNG mass, volume, and fill percentage levels. There is warehouse management to monitor storage, stock levels, and movements.
The system complies with the requirements of Ministerial Decree 14-11-2019 for the generation of the Mass Balance for the purposes of sustainability certification. This functionality ensures greater transparency and regulatory compliance, simplifying audit processes and improving environmental reporting. Through the control room, key KPIs are available for monitoring, offering complete control over activities.
LNG Sale
The platform also supports the management of LNG sales through a dedicated user area. Here, you can book collections, manage loading checklists, acquire parameters for certificates, and complete delivery notes (DDTs), as well as monitor delivery to the destination, all while complying with ADR regulations. This feature makes the platform even more complete and versatile, meeting the needs of a constantly evolving market and promoting integrated and sustainable management of all activities related to the energy and agricultural supply chains.
