Sikuel and APPA at H2O with Water Smart Metering via NB-IoT

On the occasion of Accadueo – International Water Exhibition – which will be held in Bologna from 17 to 19 October, Sikuel and APKAPPA are presenting SMAQ® Smart Metering in NB-IoT.
SMAQ® is the Smart Water Metering system via NB-IoT™ that enables objectives which are very important today for Water Management Operators to be achieved quickly and economically. These objectives include the automated remote reading of consumption data, its automated transfer to their CRM-Billing system, and the automated retrieval of data useful for network and supply point monitoring to identify anomalous situations indicative, for example, of water leaks and/or tampering.
The innovative choice to utilise the new cellular network dedicated to the Internet of Things, known as NB-IoT™, offers the SII operator further advantages, by relying on a standard nationwide network managed by telephone operators and overcoming a costly and long series of limitations imposed by the various proprietary solutions used/imposed to date for collecting the data of interest (walk-by, drive-by, private radio networks, …).
Some of the most advantageous goals that SMAQ allows you to achieve quickly and easily are

  • SMAQ® is based on standard wireless communication technologies to ensure the project's longevity, but, and above all, to avoid the operator having to invest in private communication infrastructures that also require them to commit to maintenance, in addition to obvious territorial limitations.
  • SMAQ® allows for the complete automation of the consumption reading process for the single supply point, completely eliminating the need for practices that collect the data of interest with on-site personnel (walk-by, drive-by, etc.).
  • SMAQ® allows for the automated identification of consumption anomalies as potential symptoms of tampering or leaks; in these cases, SMAQ® enables the activation of a multi-level alert procedure to notify, for example, the utility company's technical staff and the user.
  • SMAQ® can be activated on existing meters that are already set up for remote reading or with SMAQ® static meters.
  • The solution also provides for automated integration with webservices, between SMAQ®'s central acquisition software (SAC) and K-Water, to ensure the sharing of data on usage, readings and monitoring.
